Celebrating LIV's 70th anniversary

On Saturday, September 7, 2024, Fluidmaster, in collaboration with Liv Systems, organized an unforgettable event at its headquarters in Postojna to celebrate LIV's 70th anniversary. The celebration, which was dedicated to employees, their families, retired colleagues, business partners, and the local community, offered participants a diverse and engaging program.

The event featured guided tours of the production facilities, product presentations, a delicious food, and fun games for both adults and children, with prizes awarded to the best participants. In an atmosphere of pride and optimism, the event provided an opportunity to reflect on the company's rich history while looking ahead to the future with confidence. In addition to the festive celebration, the event also had a charitable aspect, with both Fluidmaster and Liv Systems donating €500 each to support families in need.

A milestone in development: From a local company to a global player

The company LIV Postojna was founded on September 3, 1954, when the District People's Committee of Postojna laid the foundations for a small metalworking business. By the end of the year, the company already had 35 employees. In 1955, it began casting aluminum and gray iron, which led to the naming of the company as LIV.

In the early years, the company focused on foundry work, woodworking, and metal processing, while seeking its true production program. Its first commercially successful product, a gray iron bench vise, received a Lloyd's certification. After a brief crisis in 1959, the company began producing bicycles, but the pivotal moment came in 1961 with the injection molding of plastics and the production of fittings and siphons for WC flush tanks, which became the company’s core product line and remain a part of the LIV brand's sanitary offerings to this day. Over the decades, LIV built a tradition of innovation and development in the field of sanitary and bathroom equipment. Today, it is part of the international corporation Fluidmaster, which operates in more than 90 countries worldwide.

One of the key milestones in the company's sanitary division was the development of the Ciklon exposed cistern, which marked the beginning of LIV's independent development of high-quality products and its breakthrough into international markets. The later-produced Laguna cistern – still one of the most recognizable exposed cistern in Slovenia and Eastern Europe – as well as various concealed cisterns, solidified LIV’s position as a key provider of sanitary equipment.

LIV's ownership changed several times over the years, but a significant milestone occurred in 2014 when it was acquired by the American corporation Fluidmaster, globally known for its fill and flush valves. Fluidmaster recognized LIV as a suitable partner for expanding into the European market, a decision that proved successful. In the decade following the acquisition, the company doubled its revenue, increased its workforce by more than 30%, and became a successful global player, all while maintaining its commitment to the local community and creating high-quality jobs.

A vision for the future

The future is clear – Fluidmaster Slovenia remains committed to innovation, expanding into new markets, and sustainable development. The construction of a new business complex in the Prestranek industrial zone, scheduled for completion in 2025, will enable further growth and improve the company's operational capabilities.

We are incredibly proud of our heritage and achievements over the past 70 years, but we are even more excited about the future ahead, emphasized Fluidmaster Slovenia's directors, Aleksandar Bogunović and Milan Potužák.

With 70 years of tradition, including breakthroughs, innovations, and dedicated employees, the company confidently steps into the future, determined to continue setting standards in sanitary equipment and focusing on developing sustainable bathroom solutions that will meet the needs of future generations.
