From an Idea to a Global Family

The Fluidmaster story is one of courage, vision, and long-term thinking. From the first technical breakthroughs in flushing systems to today’s global presence, one common thread connects us: reliable solutions, innovation, and responsible water use. As we enter 2026, we look back at the journey we have taken and look ahead—to a future we are shaping together as a global family of brands.

A Visionary Beginning

It all began with the vision of one man. In 1957, German engineer, inventor, and philanthropist Adolf Schoepe founded Fluidmaster with a clear goal: to create reliable, efficient, and innovative solutions for toilet flushing systems.

His life journey was remarkable. In 1927, a self-taught master metalworker, he traveled to the United States without speaking English and with only 25 dollars in his pocket. He worked in the aviation industry and locksmith companies, where he patented several innovative solutions, before turning his focus to the sanitary industry.

Inspired by the idea of smart and efficient water use, he developed a revolutionary toilet fill valve in 1957 that worked with water pressure rather than against it. This breakthrough innovation set new standards for the industry.

An Icon That Endures

The iconic Model 400, still available today in an improved version, remains the foundation of Fluidmaster’s product portfolio and is recognized as the best-selling fill valve in the world. At the same time, the distinctive Fluidmaster logo - the heart - was introduced, symbolizing the “stop & go” function and a lasting commitment to innovation and water conservation.

Adolf Schoepe remained actively involved in the company until the age of 96. Following his passing in 2001, Fluidmaster continued as a family-owned company, staying true to the founder’s vision of quality, innovation, and social responsibility.

A Family of Brands

Over the decades, Fluidmaster has grown into a global family of brands that today includes Fluidmaster, LIV, SCHWAB, and WISA.

WISA, a Dutch brand with origins dating back to 1865, joined Fluidmaster in 2016. Its long-standing tradition and innovative solutions significantly enrich the group’s portfolio.

SCHWAB, a German pioneer in flushing systems founded in 1911, is deeply committed to research and development and has been part of Fluidmaster since 2014.

LIV, a Slovenian brand founded in 1954, focuses on usability, durability, and modern design. Since joining the Fluidmaster Group in 2014, we have been jointly developing reliable and innovative sanitary solutions.

Fluidmaster Today

Today, Fluidmaster operates in more than 90 countries, with products reaching over 80% of the world’s population. Our portfolio includes concealed and exposed flushing systems, flush plates, fill and flush valves, touchless flushing systems, shower channels, sanitary ceramics, installation frames, siphons, toilet seats, toilet connection elements, and many other sanitary products.

A Milestone in Slovenia

An important chapter in our story was written in October 2025, when we opened new production and business facilities in Prestranek (Municipality of Postojna, Slovenia). This relocation represents a key milestone for the Slovenian location and the entire EMEA region, clearly confirming our long-term commitment to development, expertise, and innovation.

Looking Ahead

With 2026, we enter a new chapter of our journey. Firmly rooted in tradition, connected through global expertise, and strengthened by our new facilities in Prestranek, we continue to develop our presence in Slovenia and across the wider EMEA region.

An important part of this forward-looking vision is the gradual brand refresh (rebranding), bringing LIV, SCHWAB, and WISA even closer under the shared global Fluidmaster identity. This process delivers greater brand recognition, stronger development opportunities, and a more consistent experience for our partners and users.

Our story continues - with a clear goal to keep creating innovative, reliable, and sustainable solutions for responsible water management.
